LOS ANGELES, California. (OIC) Today, after searching through internal troves of OIC documents, the OIC is proud to announce that it was able to obtain 451 documents from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency (LACMTA), the agency that runs the LA Metro transit system.

FM Amy Parker originally requested the documents back in April 2023. While they were disclosed in early June, it was difficult to obtain them in a format that was usable for the OIC. Now that the documents have been processed, they are available in the OIC files archive, available to anyone.

The documents consist of public comments to LACMTA about the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor Project, a plan by the agency to revitalize a transit corridor from Downtown Los Angeles to the Gateway Cities, including Cerritos, Artesia, and Norwalk.

After processing the documents, the OIC also found a copy of the LACMTA organizational chart. While a public record, it is not currently hosted on the agency’s website, which makes it harder for individuals looking to contact LACMTA officials to determine who to contact. Now that the chart, spanning over 200 pages, is publicly available, individuals will have a much easier time reaching out to the agency.

By obtaining these documents, the OIC is able to show the Los Angeles community how people have been feeling about the project, and what concerns LACMTA has known about from citizens. It is vital to keeping government officials accountable that documents like these be publicized.

The time it took to process these documents demonstrates how important it is for everyone to work forward in advancing public transparency and access to public records. To help us achieve these goals, please join the OIC today!
