On this day, February 27, 2023, Monica Hanson and Amy Parker announce the formation of the Open Information Collective – the OIC. Made to combine the two’s efforts at their respective colleges, the OIC’s mission is to advocate for open information rights. A working Constitution has been drafted, and the OIC’s main site is now mostly furnished and available here at https://oic.amyip.net.

In addition to advocating for necessary policies, the OIC also works directly with organizations to ensure the correct implementation of existing laws. Many organizations fail to properly comply with public records legislation in most states; the OIC works directly with them to ensure that they comply correctly.

The OIC also hosts documents, both regularly obtained and “leaked” (assuming that no laws are violated by displaying them), obtained from the public and from its members.
